IIM Bangalore’s International business summit Vista 2018 presents Smart City sponsored by Reliance in association with FII. India is undergoing a strong transformation. Good ideas involving technological, institutional or managerial reforms will help design the new-age India you dream of.

With its collaborative and focused approach, India is capable enough of achieving its ambitious plan of 100 Smart Cities but for such ambitions, it is very crucial than ever for India to stay realistic and focused.”

Smart solutions are those realistic ideas that impact and strengthen the city’s
governance or its physical, social, or economic infrastructure. As environmentally conscious citizens, plan your cities for the future and ensure to make them environmentally sustainable and economically viable.

Pick one of three new city suggestions (hypothetically) proposed for the Smart Cities mission. Identify Specific smart technologically rich ideas that will empower citizens to not only co-create the new cities and transform the existing ones but also demand better governance, reliable and high quality public utilities and services.
AND
Recommend a robust and practical methodology to establish an ecosystem that will become the breeding ground for developing innovative and integrated system not only for India but also for export to the outside world.

Round 1 (Pre-Vista Prelims):
1. Round 1 is an elimination round.
2. Participants are required to submit PPT less than equal to 10 slides including Title and “thank you”/annexure slides OR A word document of NOT MORE than 3 pages outlining your proposal for the smart city plan
3. The smart city plan should also include an approximate cost estimate of implementing the proposed solutions/infrastructural developments and the timeframe for developing/installing the suggested infrastructure.
4. The problem statement can be accessed under the Prelims Tab only after you have successfully registered for the event.
5. Participants are not required to create an index page. Participants can add a maximum of 1 page of annexures/supporting documents over and above the 3 page limit. In no way, should the 3 page limit be violated.
6. The results of this round will be announced on 30th August
7. 6 teams will be shortlisted for the finals.

Round 2 (On-campus Finals):
1. The shortlisted teams can work further on their solution & make minor modifications/refinements in the previously submitted
proposals.
2. The final solution will be a max presentation of not more than 15 slides. A copy of the same needs to be submitted via email by 23:59:59 hours on the same day.
3. The teams would be invited to make a presentation during Vista to an elite panel of judges.
4. The teams would be allowed 10 minutes for presentation, followed by 4 minutes of Q&A from the judges.
5. Teams will be evaluated on the technical feasibility and implementation viability of their proposed plans.
6. The participants will need to focus on the long-term sustainability and are expected to factor in the environmental impact of their decisions.”

1. The event is open to both undergraduate &postgraduate students and corporate participants.
2. Each team can have minimum 2 and maximum 3 members.
3. Multiple teams from the same college & corporates are allowed.
4. Participants need not belong to the same institute or corporate to participate together as a team.
5. A participant cannot be part of more than one team.
6. Teams with members going on exchange are welcome to participate as long as there are 2 team members available during Vista.
7. At least two members from each team need to be present at the event venue to participate in the simulation game.

All decisions in matters of eligibility, authenticity and final judgments will be with organizing committee of VISTA, Indian Institute of Management Bangalore. The format and structure of events is subject to change before the actual beginning of the event.

You are required to choose one city and its problem out of 5 options provided  OR   you can select a city of your own and choose a problem for that city (for more details refer to the doc downloadable from Dare2Compete platform).
